Arthroscopic Repair of Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) Dysfunction

exhR0043

This medical exhibit depicts arthroscopic temporomandibular (TMJ) joint surgery to repair an anterior displacement (dysfunction) of the joint meniscus. The first surgical step pictures the open joint capsule from an enlarged cut-away view showing the arthroscopic instruments pulling the disc back into proper anatomical alignment. The second illustration shows a few small sutures holding the meniscus securely in place.
